Kolab Server 2.1 release series
Current is 2.1.0 Final. No further releases planned.KDE Kolab Clients
During 2009 a prototype for an Enterprise5 client was developed based
on the modern KDE4 Akonadi backend.
The goal of this Prototype-E5 project was
to bring in 10 years of experience with Kontact in order to overcome
important design limitations. The project is running better as anticipated
so early betas of Enterprise5 on all platforms are scheduled to be released
in Q1 2010 and will most likly supercede the Enterprise4 Kolab Client series.
Kontact for Windows (enterprise4 | beta)
Four betas were published between December 2008 and mid 2009. Another more usable beta is planned in Q1 2010 in parallel to the Enterprise5 betas. One of the two version is expected to get production ready in Q2 2010.Kontact for GNU/Linux
Prototype Enterprise5
In development, based on KDE4 and Akonadi. Betas are expected in Q1 2010. Production readiness will follow within the next quarter after the betas.Enterprise4
This client is in beta state. The client is based on KDE4 technology, but without Akonadi. There are minor releases every few weeks.Enterprise35
This series is production ready and in maintenance mode. and contains a large number of improvements over Proko2. Currently intermediate releases happen very few weeks to address issues, over 2009 a number of new featues have also be introduced by customer demand. Packagers have already picked this up; this is used widely on production. It is good to use even on KDE4 Desktops if a rock solid business-ready client is required.Proko2
This series is old stable and maintenance will be phased out end of 2009 unless somebody steps up. Kolab-Konsortium customers all have moved to newer versions. Go for Enterpise35 for new setups.
Newer versions of Kontact for Mac OS X are additionally added
to the MacPorts packaging initiative.
